Essential Question:

What is love?

Introduction:

What is love? How would you define 'love'? Why do we use the same word to express fondness for everything from our favorite food, to our dog and to our partner? We all need love to survive, but from does that love come and must we first love ourselves?

Your Challenge:

Explore the concept of love in this and other cultures and a multimedia presentation.

Assessment:

The multimedia presentation will be assessed by way of a rubric.

What can you use as a collaborative environment?

A Wiki.

Team Formation:

Teams will be formed with 4-5 members. Each member will be expected to contribute and will have specific research responsibilities, such as definitions, cultures, videos, etc.

Guiding Questions:

What does it mean to love and be loved?
What are the different kinds of love?
Is it possible to love someone, but not love what they do?
How do other cultures use the word 'love'?

Guiding Activities:

Brainstorm the meaning of love.
Brainstorm different kinds of love.
Research love in our culture as well as others cultures. Locate and read literature that deals with 'loving the person, despising the behavior.'
